This structure is probably now famous enough to be recognised by most anyone with an eye on the Western World, having attained fairly iconic status since its relatively recent launch in 1999.

Seen here not so long after the Lord Mayor's Fireworks, the British Airways London Eye, or Millennium Wheel, burns red in honour of Commonwealth veterans and civilians killed during times of war.

At 135 metres high, it is the largest wheel of its kind in the world, and has surpassed the Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Statue of Liberty to become the most popular tourist attraction on the planet.

It ain't no Forbidden City, or even a Potala, but it certainly has a place in the hearts of many, if not most, Londoners.

heh! Snap :) Love the colours in your version!

Yes, the colours are great, especially in reflection. The composition seems a little overwhelmed by the sky, but it's a tricky one to balance. Pretty, anyway: home sweet home.

very nice.

Looks like the perfect shot :) Nice motive too, of course - and a great photographer, so how could it not be an amazing combination?

I love it. The lights on the Thames gives an almost mournful quality in the glow of the red from the eye. The blood of the remembered fallen flows into the Thames. I also saw a shot of the Eye in winter, white surrounded by the blue lit trees of the Jubilee Gardens. Gorgeous.

I agree with the general opinion, this is one of the best images of this icon that I have seen, great colours. The long exposure smoothness of the water adds to the effect.

Like the others, we have already saw this picture, but not that way. Good colours. Nice shot, well done

This image is vibrant with its electric colors and even the sky and water glow. It must be a breath taking site in reality. The scene looks exciting.

This is a great twilight image. I like the reflections on the water

I love the amazing reflection in the water, and the clarity of this entire scene. It's not only inviting, but beautiful!

Excellent capture! The long exposure works great for this scene, smoothing out the water and capturing the vibrant lights.

Obviously I haven't been here for a while, but I totally just stole this image to use as my desktop wallpaper. Good memories, and it looks truly stunning.
