Yes, cliché, blah, blah, but I've never taken a picture of the moon before, had my partner's tripod sitting by my desk, and noticed her in the sky whilst working on something for my sister. Given that my low cost telephoto runs only to 300mm, and is not the sharpest piece of kit in the Universe, I was expecting far worse, but it's actually not so bad an image. I love that some of the larger craters are discernible, and will certainly come back to her with a better arsenal at some point.
It's hard to imagine that this temperate looking rock is whizzing around us at 2600 miles per hour, let alone that she's a quarter the size of Earth. P.S. This picture is great for revealing dead pixels in any LCD monitor.

Very nice. I was just this moment looking at the moon blazing above the rooftops here, haloed with brilliance. I'm not sure a photograph can ever quite capture that glow, but I salute the attempt.

Happy midsummer night :)

Ta. I had no idea it was midsummer's night; how depressing.

You can sometimes capture the halo, since it's usually due to water vapour or pollution (central London, hmm, let me think which) and not necessarily a trick on the eyes. This moon isn't from midsummer's night, incidentally, but two nights previous; the site is running on cron jobs.

Very nice cropping, I like it! And anyway, this is *your* moon shot. Everyone should have one of their own :)

This is gorgeous. It's not easy to get the exposure right when you shoot the moon, and this is very well done.

I agree with leslie. Great capture of the moon. The color and texture is really nice.
